Be a modern day samson!

The Story of Samson

Samson was a judge during the time of Judah, he was born miraculously to a sterile mother by the Spirit of the Lord.

Samson, a renegade, possessed supernatural strength that was given to him by the Spirit of the Lord. It was with this strength he was able to perform vengeful acts against his oppressors. Samson tormented the Philistines who had an oppressive hold on the land and people of Judah, because of these torments, the Philistines wanted their revenge on him.

The most famous of Samson’s acts was when three thousand of his own people, out of fear for their own lives, sought out to capture him and bring him to the Philistines. Samson allowed the people of Judah to bind his wrists and turn him over.

As the Philistine warriors shouted and charged at Samson, the Spirit of the Lord came over him in power and the ropes that bound him dropped from his wrists and seeing a fresh jawbone of a donkey, picked it up and slew one thousand Philistine warriors. Indeed, a great miracle performed by the Lord for Samson!

A Modern Day Philistine

Like Samson with the Jawbone, a miracle can also be provided for you in a great time of need.

What are your “Philistines”? Some modern-day Philistines that many people have in their lives are issues at the workplace, with a coworker or a boss, strains in your relationships with your spouse, significant other, or even a friendship. A “Philistine” could also be the result of a financial strain, is there too much month at the end of the money?

The uncertainties that face us more and more each day in our society can be very stressful. Living in a high tech age slams us with dire news of the economy, terrorist attacks, wars, abductions, and the rapid changing of our culture and priorities. We're more and more watching the gradual acceptance of many things that are wrong. Wrong is becoming right, right is becoming wrong.

So, what are the "Philistines" in your life? Do you have any that were mentioned? Some that aren't? Whatever they may be, humble thyself, pray, and call upon the Spirit of the Lord.

Then, roll up your sleeves, pick up your jawbone and:

SLAY YOUR PHILISTINES!

You can read all about Samson, the renegade judge, in the book of Judges, chapters 13-16.
